Pay-At-The-Pump Processing for Gas Stations and Fuel Retailers

Drivers expect to pay at the pump. For most fuel retailers, a significant portion of transactions never touch the inside of the store. If your outdoor payment setup is slow, unreliable, or running on outdated hardware, it affects every customer who fuels up at your location. We have worked with gas station and fuel station owners across the United States for over two decades. We understand the specific processing requirements for petroleum retail, and we build setups that are compatible with the forecourt systems and dispensers already in use at most locations.

Who This Solution Serves

What Our Pay-At-The-Pump Solution Includes

All Major Card Types Accepted at the Pump

Our pay-at-the-pump setup accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, and JCB. We also support debit at the pump, fleet cards including Wright Express, Voyager, and Mastercard Fleet, EBT where applicable, prepaid cards, and gift cards. You do not need to send customers inside to pay for fuel.

EMV-Compliant Outdoor Card Readers

EMV compliance at the pump is not optional. Card brands have enforced liability shifts for outdoor readers, which means if a counterfeit card is used at a non-EMV-compliant dispenser, the chargeback falls on you. We install and process through EMV-compliant outdoor readers so you are protected. If your dispensers are not currently EMV-ready, we walk you through what an upgrade involves and what it costs.

Petroleum-Dedicated Processing Platform

We process fuel transactions on a dedicated petroleum platform rather than routing them through a general retail setup. This matters for several reasons: lower processing costs for fuel-specific transaction types, faster authorization speeds at the pump, more reliable uptime, and same-day or next-day funding options. General processors often route petroleum transactions through inappropriate MCC categories, which results in higher fees and occasional declines on legitimate transactions.

Fleet Card Processing

Commercial drivers fueling up with fleet cards are a meaningful customer segment for many stations. Accepting Wright Express, Voyager, and Mastercard Fleet cards requires specific configuration on your merchant account. We handle that setup so fleet drivers can use your location without issues, and we make sure fleet card transactions settle correctly and at the right rates.

POS Compatibility and Reprogramming

We are compatible with the forecourt POS systems most commonly used in the petroleum industry, including VeriFone Ruby, VeriFone Topaz, VeriFone Sapphire, Gilbarco Passport, and Gilbarco G-Site, among others. When we switch your processing, we coordinate with your team to reprogram the POS with minimal disruption to your operation. Switching happens on a schedule that works for your station.

High-Speed Transaction Authorization

Slow authorizations at the pump frustrate customers and create transaction abandonment. Our processing uses IP-based communication for faster authorization response times compared to dial-up or older network setups. If you are still running dial-up at your dispensers, the speed improvement alone is worth the switch.

Comprehensive Data Reporting

You get 24/7 online access to your transaction data, including the ability to view daily batches, export reports, and reconcile in-store and pump transactions in one place. For multi-site operators, consolidated reporting across locations is available.

Security and PCI Compliance

Outdoor card readers are a common target for skimming devices. We support dual-layered data security for pump transactions and assist our petroleum merchants with PCI compliance specific to the outdoor payment environment. If your station has not completed a petroleum-specific PCI assessment recently, we can help you understand what that involves.

Thinking About Switching?

If you are already processing at your station but feel like you are paying too much, dealing with unreliable service, or stuck on a platform that does not support all the card types your customers want to use, send us your current statement.
We review petroleum merchant statements regularly and can tell you within a short time whether a switch makes financial sense and what the process would look like. Switching does not require a shutdown or a service interruption. We coordinate the transition around your schedule.
